Our Approach
As we move freight throughout the country each day, Safety is the highest priority. Our commitment to safety is reflected in the significant investment we make each year in our fleet, technology, compliance, training and induction programs. This investment ensures we deliver freight efficiently for our customers, but most importantly, ensures our drivers, fellow road users and the broader community, remain safe at all times. But when it comes to safety, it’s not just the driver’s responsibility, it’s everyone in our business. From operations staff to the workshop team, and everyone in between. But it doesn’t stop there, it’s about each party in the supply chain, from the customer to receiver. Today, the transport industry calls this the Chain of Responsibility, or COR. Our Safety Charter helps everyone in our business understand COR, explain how and when it applies, and how each of us can do our bit to help road safety.
Overloaded and incorrectly loaded vehicles have potential to cause major accidents, resulting in vehicle damage, injury or loss of life. As a result, we ensure vehicles always comply with load, dimension and mass laws.
Regular maintenance and monitoring of our transport fleet ensures that vehicles run efficiently at all times and minimize the potential for failure or breakdown, which could result in freight delays, or, safety issues.
Drugs and alcohol are a major cause of accidents and injury on Australian roads. All staff, including our drivers are educated on how the use of alcohol and drugs can lead to devastating consequences to the driver, fellow road users and the community.
Driving safely and within the speed limit is critical to ensure the safety of our drivers and fellow road users. Everybody in the business helps, by ensuring that no driver is ever directly, or indirectly, encouraged to exceed the speed limit.
Fatigue on our roads is a major cause of traffic accidents and it’s our role as a heavy vehicle operator to ensure our drivers are fit for the job at hand, ensuring that we don’t place them under undue pressure, at any time.
All our drivers, including our tow operators and sub-contractors, are required to complete our rigorous induction program, which sets out their responsibilities and expectations whilst performing their role.
